Awkward moment at party....?

I just left a gathering at my friends and I've been hooking up with one ofthe guys. Just making out and nothing serious. None of our friends are really aware...tonight when I was saying 'bye' I gave him a hug and it kinda looked like he wanted to kiss but I just avoided it and left. It felt really awkward and now he sent me a text saying "my bad." I don't know how to respond really..We're in our 20s and i don't know why this feels like a big deal hah.
